As Apple gears up for the iPhone 16 launch, expected around September 10, there’s a lot to be excited about. This year’s lineup is rumored to feature several significant updates across four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The iPhone 16 Pro models are set to introduce the largest displays ever seen on an iPhone, with sizes of 6.27 inches for the Pro and a massive 6.86 inches for the Pro Max. This leap represents a noticeable increase from the previous generation, enhancing the visual experience significantly.
One of the most anticipated changes is the new vertical camera layout on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. This design replaces the diagonal camera arrangement of the iPhone 15, featuring two separate camera rings for the Wide and Ultra Wide lenses. The new layout is expected to support Spatial Video recording, a feature currently exclusive to the Pro models.
Battery improvements are also on the horizon. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is rumored to receive a 5% increase in battery capacity, while the iPhone 16 Pro could see a 9% boost. Conversely, the iPhone 16 Plus might experience a 9% reduction in capacity. Apple might also introduce stacked battery technology to enhance energy density and longevity.
A new “Capture Button” will be a highlight across all models, positioned on the bottom right side of the device. This button is designed for easy image and video capture, with features like zooming and focusing, replacing the mmWave antenna in U.S. models.

Connectivity will see advancements with the iPhone 16 Pro models supporting Wi-Fi 7, promising faster speeds and lower latency, while the standard models will utilize Wi-Fi 6E. The next-generation A18 chips will power all models, with potential differentiation between standard and Pro versions.
Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro models might use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X75 modem, improving 5G performance and efficiency. The Pro Max is also expected to incorporate a tetraprism lens system for up to 5x optical zoom.
Apple is reportedly working on new micro-lens technology to improve OLED display brightness and reduce power consumption. The iPhone 16 series will also feature an Action Button across all models, expanding its functionality beyond the Pro models.
